The Olympics may be over but Shark Week has just begun! (Did you know they are celebrating their 25th anniversary?!) I wanted to share an image of Private Practice star, Kate Walsh swimming with sharks during a recent visit to Belize in honor of Oceana’s work in the country for World Ocean’s Day.

This World Oceans Day, Private Practice star Kate Walsh arrived in Belize to support Oceana’s work in the country. Kate visited Belize to raise awareness for protecting Belize’s beautiful reefs from the threat of offshore drilling. Oceana’s Belize office is dedicated to protecting the reef – the second largest barrier reef in the world – from looming offshore drilling threats. While in the country, Kate visited Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Shark Ray Alley, and the infamous Blue Hole.

Supermodel Coco Rocha White House Black Market 2012

Model Coco Rocha will take center stage in a television ad entitled ‘Alter Ego’. Performing a carefully choreographed dance routine, the multi-talented Rocha demonstrates that being a great model can sometimes mean more than just striking a pose. For the spot she perfected her moves with the help of Broadway choreographer Laurin Latarro. Featuring approximately 12 different head-to-toe looks in the 30 second spot – Rocha becomes the tap dance equivalent of a quick change artist. All plays out with a surprise reveal that takes the concept to the next level.

The TV spot is part of the White House Black Market overall Fall 2012 marketing campaign that includes broadcast, print advertising and direct mail.

The print ads and marketing images, photographed by Glen Luchford, also carry through with the dance theme. Shot on the same set at the TV spot, the images feature Rocha in various states of dance as well as some more traditional fashion poses.

The design of Bobbi Brown “The Pop-Up”—located in the Lexington Passage—is exclusive to the brand’s new pop-up locations around the world. Uniquely designed, the architecture will be flattened into wallpaper, which will also depict photos of Bobbi in action around the globe and iconic products from the brand. Incorporating personal touches and elements from Bobbi’s office in SoHo, the shop’s industrial design will mimic Bobbi’s design aesthetic at her Montclair free-standing store featuring heavy metal furniture, Emeco 1001 chairs, stainless steel rolling tables, and the iconic Bobbi signature in neon lights. The shop will be easy to navigate while keeping with the chic and streamlined interiors of all Bobbi Brown counter locations worldwide.

At 800 sq ft, “The Pop-Up” will house the entire collection of color cosmetics, fragrance and skincare, with a special focus on the new Long-Wear Foundation and Creamy Matte Lipcolor collections. Five makeup artists will be in store at all times to provide iconic Bobbi Brown high-touch service including 5-minute “instant pretty” touch ups and free makeup lessons. Bobbi’s personal manicurist, Roza Israel, will set up shop for the grand opening, offering 10-minute manicures to consumers and commuters alike on a first come-first serve basis.

Just in time for the holidays, the pop-up shop will be the perfect location to stop in before or after work for makeup application or party touch ups, or to stock up on gifts and stocking stuffers. To date, the brand plans to keep the shop open until January 2013.

Stabilize Fleece for Embroidery

Here is a tip for apparel manufacturers that are working with fleece fabric and embroidery.  The following tip was written by Jennifer Cox on August 6, 2012 for Printwear magazine.

“One way to stabilize the amount of movement when embroidering fleece garments is to connect the embroidery backing to the underside of the fleece. Use an adhesive to stick the backing on the fleece, or use an adhesive backing.”
