Maria Menounos Emmys 2012 Wearing Oliver Tolentino

Maria Menounos walked the carpet for the Emmys wearing an eco-couture gown by Oliver Tolentino. After meeting Oliver and seeing his incredible work, Maria knew she had to wear one of his designs to the awards ceremony. Maria loved three couture creations (2 eco and 1 crepe de chine) so much that the Extra host asked her viewers to vote online and help decide which gown she should wear. The viewers picked a Grecian blue strapless eco gown, featuring a sweetheart draped bodice with a raw-edged finish and draped skirt with a high slit. Hand-woven from the fiber of pineapple leaves, Maria’s one-of-a-kind creation combines eco-friendly techniques with impeccable design.

Tolentino was excited to work with Maria on this project because of their joint interest in creating something that is both beautiful and promotes eco-friendly fashion. The designer explains, “I incorporate eco into some of my designs because of my concern for the environment and to promote the centuries-old skills and talents of the weavers in my native Philippines.”
