Get Out of Your Box to Explore Fashion

As I have experienced today, it is important to get out of your box to explore fashion.  If you are wondering what I mean by this, just be patient.  I am about to explain… Often, I find myself typing away in my office.  I write about fashion and other topics of interest.  However, as I sit in my box of an office, I am not out exploring.  I realize that it is often better to physically explore then to simply let my mind (and the internet) explore for me.

Today I decided to be a bit like Forest (Forest Gump).  I went for a walk.  And I walked, and I walked, and I walked.  Fortunately, for me, I am actually in New York City today.  I was not walking down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere (which I would not mind doing tomorrow).  Anyway, because I was in NYC, every block provided a new fashion scene.  I saw a women struggling as she tried to walk in high heels that were apparently too high for her to handle.  I saw tourists with a multitude of fashion looks.  Obviously, I also viewed many native New Yorkers, sporting a variety of styles.  All in all, my walk was very enlightening.  I learned more about fashion today then I have in several months of reading fashion blog posts and fashion news articles.

It was a wonderful time to get out of my box.  If you have not recently went exploring, I strongly suggest you do so.  Hey, you never know.  Maybe we will bump into one another on our adventures.

In 2008 and 2009, the runway schedule for Baltimore Fashion Week (BFW) included eco-inspired fashions. The 2013 runway schedule will re-introduce eco-friendly/recyclable designer inspired looks to BFW. BFW is returning to its former production phases eco-friendly fashion inspired collections.

In preparation for Second Star Designs‘  runway participation dual collection, Second Star Designs will receive sponsorship from artisans to help bring its ideas to life. Harmony Art Organics is the primary sponsor of the certified organic cotton fabrics to be used in Second Star Designs’ eco-art-wear collection for adults. Returning for BFW2013 will be Riley Blake Designs, providing organic materials for the introduction of its line called “B.F.F. [Biologically Friendly Forever]” clothing for kids.

Here, at Second Star Designs, eco-fashion is equally important to us, and also for the planet. We work hard to integrate our personal beliefs into our company’s mission. When it’s time to leave, make sure that what you leave behind is better than what you originally found. To that end, our 2013 children and adult clothing lines will be hand-crafted using only refashioned or certified organic materials. Second Star Designs is the first eco-inspired designer to register for BFW2013.

The eco-friendly fashions worked for us in 2008 and 2009. I have spent the last few weeks reviewing what has worked and what did not work for this event. Moving into our 6th year, I learned that in order for an event of this caliber to move to the next level, I had to revisit and examine what truly got us to this point. I truly do not see anything wrong in looking back in the past as long as you learn from it and it moves you forward,” stated Nixon.

Animation Shops began in 1994, when two friend decided to open a business where they could sell licensed merchandise for popular characters from the past and the present.
