This week, Apparel Search has launched a new website called the China Clothing Factories website.  The site is currently a small site, but that is because it is specialized on a very specific category.  The site is launched this week, but it is not yet fully complete.  Additional updates will be added over the next few months.  After that stage, continuous modifications will occur to maintain the sites appearance and keep the site up to date with trends etc.

Quiksilver and Roxy are ready for summer fun.  It is now summer 2011, and it is certainly time to hit the beach.  The 4th of July weekend is here so their is not time to sit around.  Actually, I hope that you are reading this blog post from a mobile device.  If you are not actually at the beach, shame on you…

Today, I decided to create a Quiksilver profile for Apparel Search.  Actually, I learned a great deal.  For example, I did not realize all of the brands that they had under the Quiksilver umbrella.  For example, they have Roxy, DC Shoes, and more.

Nice That and ASOS Fixed Wheel Project

 This is not specifically about fashion, but it is regarding something trendy that involves designers.
 Following on from the success of the inaugural It’s Nice That Collaboration, ASOS have again teamed up with Alex Bec and Will Hudson from the cult magazine and picked five of the most imaginative and talented designers to create a series of limited edition prints.

Each artwork will be applied to a vest in either white, black and grey and sold alongside a set of removable stickers that can be applied to any design of bike. Each customer will also be entered into  a draw to win one of five exclusive custom made Foffa fixed wheel bikes designed by the artists taking part in the project.

Ika Butoni Hong Kong Based Fashion Designer

Ika Butoni – Indonesia-born, Hong Kong based fashion designer Ika, treats designing as a serious issue. “For me fashion design is not persay a career but a way to express myself day to day”. She said, “because Indonesians are so culturally gifted,  my colour sense has been enriched. My roots also contribute to my major strength in embroidery, which I use a lot in my collections.” She realized very early in her career that there is no alternative to hard work, while design is subjective to the viewer. Having reconciled to this, she discovered that there are successive layers of inspiration in creating a collection, thinking of herself as a spectator in the imaginary world. “I firmly believe that I draw inspirations from my travels and my interactions with people from different lands that help me to develop the basic ingredients of my creations sprinkled with constant research of fabrics, continual experimentations with new embroideries and staying abreast of new technologies.

Oscar Udeshi – Fashion Designer

Oscar Udeshi : While working in the city, he was looking for the clothes that would make up his ideal wardrobe. Unable to find them, he had all his clothes made to his designs and specification. Still unhappy with the results, Udeshi left the finance industry, choosing to study Design and Fashion at Central Saint Martin’s and Parsons School of Design, where he trained under one of the last remaining bespoke shirt makers of Jermyn Street.  Oscar Udeshi created his brand “Udeshi” in 1999 and was invited as a rising star to Pitti Uomo in Florence and CPD in Düsseldorf, and as guest designer of SEHM in Paris. He was one of the youngest menswear designers to show his creations on the catwalks of Paris showing at the British Ambassadors Residence in Paris, the same venue in which other fashion icons such as Vivienne Westwood and Sir Paul Smith first started showing. He was the only menswear designer to have his creations shown at the “on the cuff” exhibition, on the history of cufflinks at Goldsmith’s Hall in London.

Vivienne Tam Hong Kong Fashion Designer

Vivienne Tam launches Silk Road inspired Spring 2011 collection. Vivienne Tam designed “無懼風 無懼雨 / Never Give Up” Charity Tee to raise fund for Japan’s disaster relieve. All proceeds will be donated to Japanese Red Cross Society. Vivienne Tam sponsored the annual Technology Ventures Conference 2011 organized by Cambridge University Technology and Enterprise Club (CUTEC). Vivienne Tam designed an one of a kind wedding gown especially for Chinese Supermodel Danni Li for her wedding. The gown “龍喜” was sewn with the Chinese character “龍” (dragon) all over because that’s the last name of Danni’s husband – the boss of renowned model company “龍騰精英模特”. Vivienne Tam designed a beautiful large size crochet tote bag and an evening bag for leading hair care brand Kerastase Paris as gifts for their customers.

Vivienne Tam was born in Canton, China, on 7th December, 1962. She left China for Hong Kong when she was 2 years old. She studied at Hong Kong’s Polytechnic Fashion School. She also studied for some time in London.
In 1981, she went to New York and in 1982, she established her own label. Her first collection was named East Wind Code.  She launched her Vivienne Tam collection at 7th on 6th runway in 1993, and now has boutiques in New York, Hong Kong as well as Tokyo and Kobe in Japan.  In 1997 Vivienne Tam launched the venerable Buddha collection.  In 2000 she published her book “China Chic” which chronicles Chinese art, clothing and culture.  She called her Spring 2000 collection, “the Year of the Dragon” and the dragon appeared on many of her garments. For Spring 2001, she was inspired by the New York sky colours and skyline which she can see from her window.
