Reported on September 8th, 2011 by the Wall Street Journal, “Cotton futures jumped to their highest point in nearly two months as storm damage to southern U.S. cotton fields added a new layer of worry over the size and quality of this year’s domestic crop. Cotton for December on Intercontinental Exchange delivery rose 3.8% to $1.1034 a pound, the highest settlement price since July 8.”
