If you work in the fashion industry, you most likely are already familiar with Ross Stores.  It is not news to you that this is an important retailer.  However, on occasion, we like to give an updated summary on some of our favorite apparel stores so that we can all keep up with their latest store count etc.  Here is a brief fashion news update regarding Ross Stores.

Gucci Limited Edition Fiat – Fiat 500 by Gucci

The exclusive Fiat 500 by Gucci models feature several exclusive design elements which highlight the Fiat 500’s iconic silhouette. A signature Gucci green/red/green web stripe runs along the entire bodyside perimeter on the Fiat 500 by Gucci, or across the length of the power-retractable cloth top on the Fiat 500c by Gucci model. It’s a Sneaker Thing for Back to School 2011

The integrated, multi-channel initiative behind It’s a sneaker thing demonstrates Foot Locker’s passion and devotion to all things sneakers.  It’s hard not to notice the implicit passion skillfully expressed in Foot Locker’s “It’s a Sneaker Thing” campaign this back-to-school season.  

The campaign in the U.S. kicks off with two spots, titled, “Wright Brothers” and “Newton.” Both feature students who have an incredible love for sneakers, so much so that they reinterpret famous moments in history.  Whether it’s the invention of “fly” by the Wright Brothers or the discovery of gravity’s effects by Sir Isaac Newton, sneakers are always the focal point. At the end of each spot, the student delivers a somewhat skewed report to his classmates, while the teacher (the iconic Foot Locker “striper”) looks on knowingly and proudly.

Old Navy Expands NFL and Collegiate Apparel Offering

Today, Old Navy announced ‘Superfan Nation’ a new in-store destination housing fan gear for the entire family. The move is an expansion of the brand’s already successful licensing product strategy. In collaboration with the NFL and the Collegiate Licensing Company, a division of IMG worldwide, Old Navy will now offer apparel and accessories for all professional football and select collegiate sports teams in the U.S. Beginning August 18, Old Navy will bring the stadium fan gear experience to its nearly 1,000 U.S. stores, with each store having a tailored collection that caters to the favorite teams of the local community.

Old Navy first began offering licensed apparel, including NFL and collegiate licensed T-shirts, in 2009 and, over the last three years, has significantly grown its assortment. ‘Superfan Nation’ will be the brand’s most robust expression of a licensing partnership to date.

To celebrate the kickoff of football season, Old Navy will host tailgate parties in all stores on Saturday, September 3 from 10am-4pm. Customers can enjoy fun, family-oriented games and traditional tailgate snacks. Old Navy has also partnered with IMG College to promote its expanded offerings at 35 college campuses from late September through spring 2012. This includes in-stadium advertising and in-store events such as visits from the local college bands, mascots, and cheerleaders. ‘Superfan Nation’ will be supported with TV, including a commercial featuring a long-standing college rivalry airing August 25, 2011 through Labor Day weekend.

Shirt Scan Mobile Technology To Be Used At Farm Aid

Campus Teamwear Launches Updates for Cheerleading Apparel Shopping

Cheerleading apparel company Campus Teamwear launched their updated website, http://www.cheerleadingonline.com, to promote an interactive, social shopping experience for its customers.

“Considerable thought has gone into designing our website with integration of the latest social technologies. An important aspect of the cheerleading industry is community, and the newest features of our website reflect a community-driven design,” Kevin Oskow, Web Director for Campus Teamwear, said, adding that the Wish List, Product Review, interactive catalog and video features are the first of many initiatives.

The Wish List feature allows shoppers to add their favorite styles and accessories to a saved list that can be easily accessed anytime that they are logged in to their Campus Teamwear profile. Shoppers can keep track of their favorite cheer gear this way, and send their list to their coaches, teammates, friends and family to get their opinions (or give them some gift-buying guidance).

New Balance announces today the opening of its first North American Experience Store in New York City’s Flatiron District.  Celebrating the global brand’s past, present and future, New Balance proudly highlights its century-plus heritage and product innovation to bring its brand retail experience to life.  The store, located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 20th Street, features a Mondo running track and a unique Demonstration Area where New Balance associates showcase the company’s domestic manufacturing capabilities.

The store is purposefully cross-merchandised to offer head-to-toe brand looks for consumers. The Innovation Area features the brand’s newest innovative performance product while the Look Book Wall showcases the brand’s lifestyle offerings.  A two-lane Mondo track runs along one of the store’s perimeter walls and features a sunken-in treadmill for gait/form analysis.  A 24-hour projection texture mapping showcases product images and brand videos as well as real time brand content through Klip.tv in four distinct areas of the store.

The New Balance Demonstration Area

New Balance New York will showcase the company’s commitment to domestic manufacturing as the only athletic brand to continue to manufacture shoes in the U.S. through a Demonstration Area in the front of the store.  Behind a glass-enclosed space, a seasoned New Balance associate from the company’s Skowhegan, Maine manufacturing facility will assemble 880 running shoes and additional models to be determined in the future.  Each pair will be sold in an ‘Assembled in NYC’ drawstring bag stamped with the date made and edition number. The store will also host a live video feed from the company’s Lawrence, MA manufacturing floor during work hours.  “We are extremely proud to be able to showcase the passion and skill of our domestic manufacturing associates directly to consumers for the first time through this Demonstration Area,” says DeMartini.  

New Balance New York is open Monday – Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Hilary Duff, Jenny McCarthy, Padma Lakshmi and Christi Brinkley Move for Change

The national campaign and goodwill initiative titled, “Move for Change” features actress, singer and author, Hilary Duff, actress and author, Jenny McCarthy, TV personality, Padma Lakshmi and supermodel and actress, Christie Brinkley. The marketing campaign is representative of women of all ages who promote a healthy lifestyle and well-being.  As part of campaign, Danskin has formed the Danskin “Move for Change initiative, a goodwill movement dedicated to the health and wellness of women and children. The movement was created to continually support organizations and programs that research, foster and fund women and children’s health initiatives.

The “ campaign showcases each of the women in their own creative engaging in their daily fitness routine with an inspirational quote to motivate the consumer. Danskin proudly supports each woman’s charities and they are featured in all of the marketing materials.
