Nautica Men’s Fall-Holiday 2012 Collection

Check out the Men’s Fall/Holiday 2012 Collection from Nautica.

NAUTICA FALL 2012 MENS looks

Nautica set sail along the coastline of Massachusetts for Fall/Holiday 2012, and was inspired by the iconic watermen of the American northeast: sailors, dockhands, admirals and coastal prepsters.  The landscape of the Edgartown, Menemsha, and Chilmark towns of Martha’s Vineyard highlights how New England’s maritime history became intertwined with the Nautica brand’s own heritage, creating a mixture of washed, rugged pieces and refined styles that make for a sense of timelessness.

Sail Loft (7/25-9/25)

Discover the craft of sail-making here, where sailing gear gets re-stitched and restored. Pieced sailcloth totes inspired the knitwear and outerwear in this collection, and utilitarian details are found throughout. Colors are dip-dyed for a natural, sun-bleached, softened look; washed blues, clean naturals, reds, and yellows make up the color palette.  Technical hardware and performance elements are incorporated into key pieces, such as the water-resistant matte oxford fabric found on the Sail Loft Toggle Slicker coat. Vests are lightweight and multi-pocketed, sweaters are cable-knit and textured, and cargos, pants, and shorts are authentically constructed with nautical stitching. Patterns are bold, color blocked, and with large scale graphics. Plaids are layered over stripes, and canvas and twill fabrics are paired with herringbone tape. Traditional elements, like toggles and elbow patches are found on sweaters and coats creating a vintage feel that mixes well with the weathered sea effect of the rest of the delivery.

Harbors of Holiday (9/25)

Performance-driven items are the mainstay of this delivery with strong technical outerwear and knit-active pieces in vivid colors.  Yellow, Bright Nautical Blue, Red, White and Navy anchor the collection and there is a focus on nautical markings and bold color block details, like the water resistant color block jacket with sail flag piecing, zig zag stitches, a high sail collar and concealed hood.  Luxury performance is found in cotton modal sweaters, and elements such as water-repellency and fade and shrink resistance add versatility to the knits.  A modern-retro sporty vibe is felt with full-zip ski-inspired sweaters and colored corduroy bottoms, while nautical elements are displayed throughout, such as the anchor buttons found on the updated wool peacoat.

Black Pearl (10/25)

Sporty meets traditional in this luxurious and tailored collection inspired by the Yacht Club trophy rooms of the New England coast.  Clean and crisp hues of Black, Sail White, Grey Heather, Navy, and Blue Heather create monochromatic looks throughout. Everything is refined and tailored, and fabrics are elevated with wool outerwear, stripes in luxurious yarns, and knits made of soft cashmere.

Nautical textured sweaters are color blocked and fine gauged, cable knits are twisted, and tonal sweaters are marled.  Vintage trophy room graphic details can be found on knits, and functionality is not lost in the collection, with the 3-in-1 wool cashmere shell jacket and snap out nylon quilted vest.
