Fashion Week San Diego prepares young professionals for a future in fashion! The upcoming event (October 1 – 7  2012– see a list of events below) allows up and coming fashion designers the opportunity to exhibit their beautiful work in an environment filled with industry professionals and potential buyers. In addition, Fashion Week San Diego provides a platform for up-and-coming hairstylists and makeup artists to showcase their talents as a form of artwork, intertwined with the fashion world.

While the winning designer is awarded a business package (see details below), the knowledge and preparation all of the participants involved will acquire as a part of Fashion Week San Diego is priceless, and will play an integral role in their future success.

A’Doreus is Fashion Week San Diego’s only Plus Size clothing line designed by Sharlene Borromeo. A’Doreus caters to full figured women by creating romantic designs with the use of elegant style lines and an eclectic mixture of textures and prints. A’Doreus’ design philosophy and social responsibility are deeply rooted in embracing diversity and size acceptance. A’Doreus will be showing the “Shades of Love” Collection on the Fashion Week runway and this is Sharlene’s first full collection for A’Doreus. A’Doreus… fashions and beauty to adore, inside and out. Amy Thai brings a capsule collection to Fashion Week San Diego called “Fractured Kaleidoscope”. Using geometric shapes in black and white her pieces have a 3D effect. All the pieces have the same goal of creating images of symbolic significance. This is her first cross over collection from costume to ready to wear. It blends the elements of historical costuming with modern day styles for an exclusive, custom wearable piece of art. With an emphasis on details, each element of a design possesses a special meaning or purpose making the garment distinctive. Created exclusively for San Diego and for Fashion Week San Diego. Andre Soriano channels the high fashion and high art with influences from cosmopolitan cities worldwide such as New York, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Milan and Tokyo. Soriano only selects the best luxurious fabrics on the market such as satin, velvet, chiffon, cashmere, knits and the crochet with bread-work materials that come from Asia and Europe. His vision and fashion interpretation is inspired by old Hollywood glamour for today’s women and men in mind. The designs of Creative-Fashionista are all about individuality, but the connecting thread throughout is Whitney’s unique eye for fashion and style! Whitney is known for experimenting with fabric and trim to create her unique and often one of a kind designs.

Dos Caras is a recent start up that specializes in cheeky, fun swim and resort wear. The brainchild of two San Diego Natives, Syncletica Muniz and Aida Soria, the brand exudes fun vintage styling with a modern girl twist. Fashion Week San Diego is where these two girls are going to launch Dos Caras. Expect bold prints, sophisticated demure sexiness that is easy to wear but not easily dismissed! As a well know designer of Trashy Chic, her other line in San Diego, Erin is using Fashion Week San Diego to launch her high end line of vintage inspired jewelry. Erin Fader Jewelry Designs is vintage inspired “timeless treasures” that connect the past with the present. By up-cycling vintage materials combined with an emphasis on quality craftsmanship, the Erin Fader Jewelry Collection consists of unique designs, each with a history and story of their own. Each treasure begins as vintage; therefore resulting in limited edition collections and at times one-of-a-kind creations. Jessica Faulkner will debut her first collection at Fashion Week San Diego. After working and gaining experience as a freelance design assistant for the Los Angeles based women’s contemporary designer, Jane Oh, Jessica decided it was time to venture off and develop her own collection that focuses on practical clothing that can take a woman from day to night. She is excited to debut her first collection in her hometown where she is inspired by the lifestyle, the culture, and, most importantly, the women who make this city so special to her. Jessica also worked the first Fashion Week San Diego in 2008 and we couldn’t be more proud of her to be on the other side of the runway.

Love Is A Devil jewelry pieces are handmade works of art and each collection is made in limited quantities and based on supplies and materials available. Designed by Alana Crain and Sharie Ellis each piece is unique in design, as they are the perfect combination of romantic and edgy. Designer Paul Rico entered a Home Economics class in high school not knowing what it is about or that he would fall in love with sewing. From here he knew all he wanted to be was a fashion designer. Debuting his Spring 2013 collection of incredibly constructed, progressive, memorable women’s and men’s clothing with an Asian influence. SYC Collection is a quickly growing women’s wear brand created by designer, Sameerah Yasmeen Corporal. Since launching the brand in 2009, SYC has evolved from featuring jewelry, to accessories (shoes and handbags), and now to the launch of its women’s wear collection at Fashion Week San Diego. From its humble beginnings in 2009, the SYC brand has made its way to customers across the US and in countries such as Australia, Ireland, Czech Republic, and Japan to name a few. One of the latest accomplishments of the brand has been creating custom pieces for stylists and cast on VH1 television. The SYC brand has a clear course for the future growth and we can’t wait for you to see the launch of the SYC women’s clothing line on the Fashion Week San Diego runway. Winning Designer Business Package

One designer will be awarded a business package to help make their label and designs a reality.

The winner will be chosen by the audience at Fashion Week San Diego 2012. The designers will be scored on creativity, wearablity and over all production. There will be recognition for second and third place as well.

It will include:

  • Logo Design provided by Phoebe Street Creative
  • 50 Hours of business consulting and strategic sales/ marketing plans from APA Business Consulting, Inc.
  • A dedicated press release on the wining designer provided by Olive PR Solutions, Inc..
  • A fashion photo shoot with photographer Melissa Au of Dandelion Dreams Photography.
  • Celebration dinner at Roppongi.
  • Prize money to help grow their fashion business.
  • A spot showcasing in the 2013 runway shows of Fashion Week San Diego
  • Follow up interviews and exclusive highlights of the progress in their business
  • And much much more.

Fashion Week San DiegoTM was founded in 2008 by Allison Andrews with the idea of creating a fashion industry event to aid the developing fashion culture in San Diego. The first Fashion Week San DiegoTM took place in October of 2008 at different venues around Downtown San Diego. The event went on hiatus for three years to recoup after the economic recession and is coming back stronger than ever.
