Nautica Collaboration With Zhik

Nautica®, a leading global lifestyle brand, known for its dedication to the water, has collaborated with Australian sailing label, Zhik®, on a new capsule collection of apparel.  The partnership combines Zhik’s tested and proven sailing expertise with the Nautica brand’s passion for performance and authentic design.  Ranging from t-shirts and polos, to fleece jackets, hoodies and technical shorts, the 14piece capsule collection has special performance features including water-resistant, quick dry, anti-bacterial, and SPF protection.   The collection will be available this September at Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Belk, specialty stores and Nautica.com, retailing from $25 – $198.  Internationally, the items will be sold in Chile, Australia, United Arab Emirates, China, Hong Kong, Israel, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan.

Collection highlights include the Aroshell® Fleece jacket, the long and short sleeve ZhikDry™ shirts, and the Technical short.  The fleece jacket contains a 2-layer shell of full wet weather protection combined with thick, thermal fleece lining, a high cut collar to protect from the wind, and is designed to be warm, dry and comfortable both on and off the water.  The long sleeve and short sleeve ZhikDry shirts both have special UV 50+ protection and provide moisture wicking and quick drying functionality.  They also contain anti-bacterial properties and have Velcro resistance, which is ideal for sailing.  Additionally, the Technical short, which is 90% nylon, is water repellent with 4-way stretch and has a durable 500D abrasion resistant rear butt panel.  With deep cargo pockets featuring Velcro closures, there is extra security for personal items while sailing or hanging out on the deck.

To support this collection, Nautica will highlight the partnership in-stores domestically, as well as through e-commerce and social media, and also run as title sponsor for the Zhik Nautica Moth Worlds racing event during the week of August 18th– 26th, in Campione del Garda, Italy.  The Moth is the fastest single sail, 1 person crew dinghy class, featuring a unique foiling set up that sees the boat lift into the air and fly.  Additionally, the full capsule collection will be featured prominently on Nautica.com along with video clips from the Zhik Nautica Moth Worlds event.

She replied, “Well, the fashion! I get to play dress up and make fantasy come to life. It’s fun; I love everything about it. I’m more then just a fashion editor and blogger, as a fashion and style director I’m styling on-set for either actors, musicians, models or personalities. I get the best of both worlds being able to be active on set, in the showrooms or in front of my digital devices writing and soaking up articles on beauty and fashion. What is also important to me about what I do as a journalist is providing readers with information that they can enjoy and are empowered by. Fashion and beauty is more then just what’s happening on the outside, it has so much to do with what’s going on inside our heads as well.”

Madras Fabrics

Are you familiar with Madras fabrics?

Madras Fabric

Madras is a lightweight cotton fabric with typically patterned texture and plaid design, used primarily for summer clothing—pants, shorts, dresses and jackets. The fabric takes its name from the former English name of the city of Chennai, India. This cloth also was identified by the colloquial name, “Madrasi checks.”

ban.do GenArt Fresh Face Designer Gretchen Jones

This fashion week ban.do joined forces with one of GenArt’s Fresh Face designers & Project Runway contestant, Gretchen Jones to create a special edition hair accessories collection.

Blossoming with whimsical floral embellishments, ban.do’s headbands were the perfect complement to the Brooklyn-based designer’s rustic and artisanal aesthetic, who debuted her collection on the runway yesterday at Pier 57 in New York City.

Do you know that Jaime King wore ban.do during an episode of Hart of Dixie.

Earnest Sewn Denim Challenge Winner 2012

Earnest Sewn’s jean pool widens as The Earnest Sewn Co. announces denim challenge winners, Denim Therapy’s Jackie Racer and Scout Sixteen’s Justin Livingston, whose DIY jeans will be recreated and launched as part of The Earnest Sewn Co.’s Spring 2013 Collection at Coterie this week in NYC. In a nutshell, seven top denim bloggers were given a pair of the brand’s signature jeans to wear for thirty days and were encouraged to cut them, bleach them, dye them, and even pull outrageous stunts like drag them behind a car or dip them in New York’s East River. After a long and competitive thirty day race, Creative Director of Earnest Sewn, Benjamin Talley Smith, chose Racer’s graphic designed denim and Livingston’s wild color-poppin’ jeans to be the inspiration of two fresh styles, the men’s “Ramone Livingston” and women’s “Esra Racer” for his Spring Collection.

Smith was impressed by all seven bloggers, and was fascinated by the innovative patchwork and simple wear and tear on the jeans that Denimology’s Jessie & Jason Thorpe and Denimblog’s Jonathan Mann, Jennifer Pike, and Lorna Burford submitted. Smith says, “It was a close call between all seven. It was so fun to work with the bloggers that customized their own jeans. It was not at all what I expected but I think in the end we ended up with two (yes, two) really great, on trend pieces. The jeans are named after the bloggers that so diligently wore them in for their custom touch, and will be offered to our wholesale accounts as well as sold in our Earnest Sewn retail stores (approx. $210).”

Lana Del Rey, one of the biggest names in music, will be the face and voice of H&M this fall. Lana will star in a print campaign shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, as well as in a full-length film of Lana singing a cover of “Blue Velvet”, shot by director Johan Renck. Lana became an instant worldwide star earlier this year with her single “Video Games” taken from the multimillion selling album “Born to Die”, and is known globally for her distinctive personal style. For the print campaign, Lana wears the best of H&M’s fashion for fall, from a pink angora blend sweater to printed leggings, a tweed biker jacket and a tweed figure-hugging faux leather trimmed dress. The film is a fully-plotted music video starring Lana as she sings “Blue Velvet”, which will be available to see in its entirety at www.hm.com from September 19, with edited versions used as a TV campaign. Lana will also star in a second print campaign later in the season, featuring the best of winter fashion. These images will appear in October, both in print and also in-store.
