Surf Lifestyle Brand Goes Football

Quiksilver NFL Board Shorts 2011

Quiksilver has the license to sell NFL board shorts.  This is a fine example of a lifestyle fashion brand going the extra yard.  Rather then site back waiting for the wave, Quiksilver jumped on in and grabbed a sports license from the NFL.

The question is, “Is mixing surf and football a smart move?

Will this have a positive effect on the lifestyle fashion brand that has been developed in the surf and water sports arena.  Well, I think that Quiksilver is strong enough to make this a success.  What do you think?  Should the surf lifestyle and football lifestyle collide?

Find Fashion on Tumblr Part 2

If you read my last fashion blog post, you will know that we started a discussion in regard to the benefits of using Tumblr to learn about fashion.  I started a short directory of resources on Tumblr to help us more easily find feeds about fashion industry issues.  The list became too long so I had decided to split the post into two parts.  In the future, if I find more helpful sources of information, I guess I can create another post at that time.  Anyway, for now, this is a two part series only.

Here are a few more resources for your review:

Fashion Trend Forecasting

Fashion Week

Stylists

Textile Designers

Textile Industry

Wholesale Fashion

Women’s Fashion

Women’s Shoes

Women’s Underwear

Fashion Photographers

Again, if I find more beneficial resources in the future, I will try to post about it hear on the Fashion Industry Network WordPress blog.

San Francisco Fashion Incubator

San Francisco’s first fashion incubator was introduced today with the goal of reclaiming the City’s legacy as a leader in the fashion apparel industry. Called the Fashion Incubator San Francisco at Macy’s Union Square (FISF), the group’s mission is to turn creative fashion apparel designers into successful San Francisco entrepreneurs.

FISF is a non-profit business development organization that will nurture and mentor the City’s fashion design talent and provide them the tools and resources needed to establish and grow businesses of their own. Each year FISF will provide six Designers in Residence with premier workshop space in Macy’s offices at Union Square where they can create new lines and showcase their collections to merchants, ranging from local boutiques to national retailers. FISF also will offer business operations training from experts in the San Francisco fashion and economic development communities. The first class of designers is expected to move into the FISF workshop in March 2012 for their yearlong training.
